CHAMPAIGN – Sharon Harvey, 75, passed away on Monday, May 11th, 2020 after a long illness.

She was born on November 22, 1944 in Christopher, the daughter of Ella and Harry Harvey.

Sharon leaves Sue Keehn, her devoted partner for 43 years.

She is also survived by her beloved, caring niece Alicia, husband Joe, and daughters Mia, Ella and Julia (Athens, Georgia); Nephew Brian Bevill and sons Drake and Drew (Oakland); and brother-in-law Richard Bevill (Trenton).

Sharon preceded her parents and sister Marilyn Bevill in death.

Sharon is very much missed by her large, loving Keehn family, Bob and Julie Keehn (Riverside); Diane Keehn (Fort Myers, Florida); Bill, Krista, Kathleen, and Jameson Keehn (Cincinnati); Bob Keehn and Jen Hull (Villa Park); Beth, Chris, Jackson, Gretchen, and Jacob Germann (Crescent Springs, Kentucky); and Cathy Keehn (Stuttgart, Germany).

Sharon holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Illinois and a master’s degree in counseling from Northern Illinois University. She was an advisor to the Champaign County State Attorney’s Office on the Adult and Victim Witness Distraction Program. Upon retirement, Sue moved to Baltimore and then Little Rock, where she found a second appointment as bookstore manager at the William H. Bowen School of Law. When Sharon left Arkansas, Sharon was given the honorary title of Arkansas Traveler, joining the ranks of Maya Angelou and Gene Autry.

Sharon was a voracious reader of science fiction, fantasy, and history. She was an absolute fan of Illinois basketball and the Chicago Cubs. Sharon was always eager to pull up a chair at the card table, enjoyed poker, played pool, and didn’t mind a little horse race every now and then. She loved her many pets. She enjoyed spending time with friends on St. George Island.

Our dearest Sharon was a kind and loving soul who fought a courageous and determined fight against the end of life.

We wish you peace, comfort, sunshine, and gentle golf breezes where you are now. Your family and friends will miss you. Our life is better because we know you. You are always valued.

At the request of Sharon, a festival of life will be celebrated in the Esquire Lounge on Saturday, July 24th. Friends and family are invited to drop by from 2pm to 4pm to share stories and memories about Sharon.

Sue and her family thank the Friends of Daycare in Champaign and Country Health Care and Rehab from the bottom of their hearts for the friendship and the friendly and compassionate care. Sue also thanks Carle Hospice and Sharon’s doctors and nurses, especially Alex, Alyssa and Max.
