The Phoenixville Public Library hosts in-person events as part of the Community Gardening Around the Village series. Join Marsana Polytan Kounap, a herb gardener at Camphill Village Kimberton Hills, on the Wildlife Walk along the School Kill Trail on Monday, July 19th at 7pm. Take a stroll along the Phoenixville School Kill Trail and learn about some of the plants that are found there. Martha talks about how to identify plants and some of their traditional uses. Bring your powers of observation. You will surely see beautiful things! This is a rain or shine event. The meeting point is under the Gay Street Bridge, where the farmers market is located. The public library of the Phoenix building is organizing the next virtual event “Community gardening around the village”, the “Autumn sowing” series on Thursday, July 22nd at 7:00 pm. Ryan McCogan, a gardening educator at Chester County Food Bank, will be the speaker. In this presentation, participants will learn best practices on what, when and how to grow autumn garden seedlings. Ryan McCaughan holds a degree in Elementary Education from West Chester University and has taught 4th and 5th grades for 5 years. He is an avid home gardener and has spent a lot of time traveling and working on farms. He has been a gardening educator with the Chester County Food Bank for 10 months.
