Game summary: Valentin Linarez made a second start with Greensboro and he went four innings, allowed four hits and one walk, while giving up two runs, both of which came on solo homers. He had 2.63 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 24 innings in the FCL before joining Greensboro last week.

Game summary: Bradenton still has playoff games but this was Jared Jones’s last regular season appearance and it was a typical game. He ran up the strikeouts while allowing three runs in three hits and three walks in four innings. He ends with a 4.64 ERA in 68 innings, with 103 strikeouts.

Game summary: Shalin Polanco had a disappointing season as the highest paid international junior for the Pirates in the 2020-21 signing phase. He had a .559 OPS in 38 games that came into play today. He made a big improvement on those numbers (+68 points on the OPS) by collecting a double and two triples, with three runs and two RBIs. Ruben Vizcaya had a triple, two walks and he did three runs. The Pirates scored six runs in the first, two in the second and three more runs in the fourth for the 11-2 win. Starter Isaias Uribe started the day with 2.74 ERA in 23 innings this season. He went four innings in that competition and allowed two runs, but both were undeserved. Diego Chiquillo put in three hitless / shutout innings to take the win, giving him a 6-0 record.

Game summary: Starter Jose Garces came into today’s game with a 5.16 ERA in 22.2 innings over eight starts and two relief appearances. He improved that ERA by allowing a five innings run on four hits, no walks and four strikeouts. Rafael Mendez took the loss in seventh place as he allowed in a double, two walks, and a walk-off single. The Pirates lost 2-1 and had only one hit, an infield single by Pedro Figuereo in the second inning. Their only run was scored with a strikeout when Rodolfo De La Cruz scored a goal from the combination of a wild pitch and a mistake. He reached the base that ran the game on a wild pitch with a strikeout.
