YouTube Originals announces expansion of children’s series Slate

YouTube today announced an expansion of its offering for children and families through 2023 – with partners like the popular YouTuber Joe Sugg and the Headspace meditation app. (Talk about a diverse collection.) YouTube describes the new additions as “diverse” and “global,” and says the projects are part of its “previously announced $100 million commitment to moving forward with quality children’s, family, and invest in educational programs”. .

A bulletin from YouTube states:

“Building on the tremendous success of the Kids Fund slate with approximately 330 million lifetime views – 18 prestigious awards and nominations (winning a Prix Jeunesse, Webby Award, Content Innovation Award and an Emmy and NAACP Image Award nomination) – and presentation One-third of its total content is in multiple languages, YouTube Kids & Family made an impact around the world with its originals and is committed to producing even more quality children’s programming this year.”

Premiere is on May 13th funeral talk, an animated series based on the graphic novel of the same name. Sugg voices Adam, a history buff and talk show host who is visited each episode by a famous deceased historical figure, including Mozart, Ching Shih, Cleopatra, Josephine Baker and Ibn Al-Haytham. The Guava Juice Show will premiere on June 4, following 14-year-old Roi (Roi Fabito), his best friend Jenny (Bethany Brown) and talking guava fruit called guava (Adrian Petriv) travel into parallel worlds and dimensions via a magical multiverse hopping bathtub. On June 17th, the Lupita Nyong’o produced series Super Sema will premiere its second season, which follows the young superheroine “as she uses her technological skills to change the world and protect her city of Dunia from the villainous robot Tobor”. YouTube has expanded its offering to 2023 and beyond. Next year will see the arrival of a partnership between Lili Singh and the mediation app Headspace for Mindful adventures on Unicorn Island. The synopsis is:

In each episode, young Lilly is transported to Unicorn Island, a colorful wonderland where life’s struggles manifest themselves in fantastical ways. With the help of her imaginary friends, Lilly learns new mindfulness activities to overcome her problems and brings those skills back to the real world to deal with her real problems. The school series is produced by Headspace’s multiplatform production studio Headspace Studios and Unicorn Island Productions.

Are further out and in development The Magic Cookbook, a cooking show for school children that combines fantasy and reality. The synopsis is:
