Xi Jinping’s path so far …
  • The son of Xi Zhongxun – one of the founding fathers of the Chinese Communist Party and deputy prime minister – Xi Jinping was born as part of elite society, but his life took a turn after his father was expelled from the party and imprisoned in 1962
  • Jinping was 16 when he had to move to a poor rural village where he worked as a laborer for seven years
