MAHOMET – Teresa Jean Bowers of Mahomet passed away on July 6, 2022 after a long illness at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Teresa was born on July 5, 1974 at Burnham City Hospital in Champaign.

She attended Seventh-day Adventist elementary school and graduated from Judah Christian High School in 1993.

After graduating, Teresa worked at the Berean Bookstore, where she enjoyed helping customers find Christian music and hard-to-find backing tracks. Teresa later worked in the medical records department at Provena Covenant Medical Center for several years.

She attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church for most of her youth and Vineyard Church in the last years of her life. She was a firm believer in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and loved sharing her faith with others whenever she could.

Teresa preceded in death her father Larry Norman Bowers, her older brother Larry Wayne Bowers, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her mother Betty Jean Bowers of Mahomet and her older brother Michael Wilson Bowers of Mahomet.

Teresa loved cats – no – she really loved cats! Her hobbies have included everything to do with Star Trek, 1980’s television and just about everything British including films, customs, royal family history and food. Her friends and family knew she always had a smile on her face and a kind word, especially for a stranger. Teresa always did everything she could to make friends with people who were having trouble making friends. During the most difficult of her last days on this earth, Teresa could be seen checking out others and trying to keep her spirits up.

Vineyard Church Pastor Leah Wenger will lead family and friends to a burial ceremony at the gravesite celebrating Teresa’s life at 4:00 p.m. Friday at Locust Grove Cemetery in Philo.

Donations to the family can be made to Michael Bowers, PO Box 604, Mahomet, IL 61853.
