The Spokane Audubon Society’s 2022 Bird Calendar in East Washington and North Idaho is an affordable, easy-to-send local Christmas gift that will keep you informed and entertained throughout the New Year.

As usual, the calendar includes beautiful local bird photos by chapter members and information about the featured species. This year, for the first time, the calendar also includes notes by date, which birds should be watched out for and when. The phenology notes – seasonal natural events and their cycles, including bird migration and nesting site – are based on several local “citizen science” sources to provide markers for the ever-changing seasons of birding.

The calendar costs $ 14, including shipping direct to a gift recipient, available online at www.audubonspokane.org/. It can also be purchased by mailing a $ 14 check to the Spokane Audubon Society with a return address at Spokane Audubon Society, PO Box 9820, Spokane, 99209-9820. It’s also available at Tante’s Bookstore in downtown Spokane and The Well Read Moose bookstore in Coeur d’Alene.

The proceeds from calendar sales help fund Spokane Audubon’s work to protect bird habitats and secure public access to bird watching areas.
