In May, Anderson’s Bookshop raised more than $ 1,500 in donations from generous customers through an auction for the new Billie Eilish book and Books for Troops campaign.

Last month, the store offered a very special online opportunity via social media.

Three autographed books by singer / songwriter superstar Billie Eilish were made available thanks to Grand Central Publishing in collaboration with Anderson’s Bookshop.

The book “Billie Eilish” offers a first look at Eilish’s life so far. Readers replied, and a grand total of nearly $ 500 went to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Anderson’s Bookshops in downtown Naperville at 123 W. Jefferson Ave. and 5112 Main St. at Downers Grove were pleased to donate these auction proceeds.

NAMI DuPage was founded in 1985 by a group of parents as a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a nationwide mental health advocacy group founded in 1979 dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with mental illness. These parents sought services for their children diagnosed with mental illness. By joining forces, they thought they could work for improved services.

NAMI DuPage has grown from this small handful of people to an organization with over 1,000 members and has become one of the largest and most innovative of 1200 national member organizations. NAMI has been a catalyst for change and reform in DuPage County.

Anderson’s Bookshops is also running a Books for Troops campaign to encourage customer donations to provide books for military personnel on active duty. Thanks to a big push for Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day, generous area donors offered donations online and in person when they visited our stores. More than $ 1,000 was donated online and from personal buyers.

The Books for Troops program began in June 2011 after a writer signed with National Book Award-winning author Jeanne Birdsall. Birdsall mentioned that her nephew, who was then serving in the 101st Airborne Division in Afghanistan, enjoyed reading in his rare downtime but ran out of books. Anderson’s Bookshop customers responded immediately with donations, and bookseller Erin Keables took it upon herself to find a sponsorship organization so that they could start an official program. Since then, in partnership with Operation Support Our Troops, the bookstore has shipped thousands of books to active service members thanks to the generosity of customers.

Anderson’s Bookshops is the sole supplier of books to Operation Support Our Troops. Every month they send out hundreds of care boxes packed with donation items from generous donors. Your goal is to deliver fun and uplifting books. Books are carefully chosen and avoid topics such as religion, politics, and war. The goal is to express appreciation for their service, raise morale, and promote wellbeing.

Anderson’s Bookshop is a six-generation family-run, independent company with offices in the western suburbs of Chicago. The company includes a toy store and a school book fair. Anderson’s Bookshops, which have received dozens of awards, share their passion and knowledge of books and community building through Anderson’s Bookshops located in downtown Naperville at 123 W.
