INDIANAPOLIS — Adele M. Foli of Indianapolis, Indiana, died Sunday, January 30, 2022 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis from injuries sustained in a fall at her home. Adele was born on October 3, 1930 in Vermillion County, Indiana to James Marietta and Rose Carrera Marietta.
Adele preceded her 65-year-old husband Reno C. Foli in death. They had three surviving daughters: Leanne Foli Malloy (Bill) of Indianapolis, Margaret Foli Conway (Mark, deceased) of Indianapolis, and Karen Foli (John Thompson) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Katie Malloy of Charleston, SC, Jeff Conway of Zionsville, IN, David (Tana) Conway of Maple Grove, MN, Ben (Rachael) Thompson of Grundy, VA, Peter (Jackie) Thompson of Champaign, IL and Annie Thompson of Lafayette, IN. She also welcomed her great-granddaughter, Natasha, of Maple Grove, MN. Adele is survived by her sister Joyce Fanning of Terre Haute along with several nieces and nephews. Also, she is survived by special friends Minnie Haase, Nancy Jarrett, and Vicki Sordean. Adele was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Judge Peter Marietta; her brother-in-law Herman Fanning; and her son-in-law, Dr. Mark Conway.
While raising her daughters, Adele worked at Sears, Montgomery Ward and the Indiana State University Bookstore, retiring in 1982. She then volunteered for several years at the office of St. Joseph University Parish in Terre Haute.
Adele loved celebrating Christmas with her family, especially her grandchildren. She shopped for bargains throughout the year to make it extra special for everyone. She and Reno brought bags and bags of gifts from the basement for the family to unwrap and enjoy.
The viewing will be on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Greiner Funeral Home, 2005 North 13th Street, Terre Haute, Indiana. The service will follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery.
